Mendacity

<rant>
Once again, the MSM is going apeshit over Chavez' "attacks on freedom of speech in Venezuela" (my paraphrase). I can't help but get the impression this is simple adherence to the pattern of vilifying any country's leader who won't toe the corporate line (e.g. Chavez, Ahmadinejad,etc) while those who sell out to BigCorp are allowed to get away with murder, rape and pillage without a peep being uttered by the MSM.

Read and enjoy:
Economist
BBC

And then, (some) balanced reporting:
Al Jazeera
Axis Of Logic
Zmag

Notice the difference in tone and slant between the articles from the MSM and that of the indymedia. When did this crap start? Let's just say the invention of the printing press wasn't a complete blessing. However, I do consider it useful to "consume" MSM news simply to get an idea of what they think the plebs should believe and, consequently, buy. Ditto for women's (and men's, come to that) magazines, but that's a rant for another day.

Just for the record (and tip of the hat to TheKro for the link), here are the top stories of 2007 that went unreported by MSM.

Yours in hatred of all that is mediocre,
A

Sorry to be anal but ... have me made it to 2008 yet? How can someone claim these are the top stories of 2007 when the year isn't over yet? If polymers are found in our crops will this article get updated??

Religious trolls :/

And I have no idea why the "top stories" are numbered one year ahead. Some secret, devilish journalistic plot, no doubt.
